How true are these words? Lately I have been so concerned with the amount of university work we have to do that I feel so stressed and I am taking it out on all my friends and family.
My feelings are following my behaviour because my anxiousness is represented in my behaviour. It is almost like a vicious cycle where my behaviour dictates to my feelings and my feelings to my behaviour.
But on the other hand, this could be a great feeling. If I am doing something I love, like sitting with my friends and just chilling I will be so relaxed and calm and this will reflect on my feelings which would be happy, motivated and inspired to do almost anything I set my mind on.
Another example of my feelings following my behaviour is when I do something that feels right or good, for example when I volunteer for certain non-profit organisations or give charity, they say that giving is better than receiving and this is so true. I feel as if I am on top of the world, that I can conquer anything and everything.
So I think that maybe in the mornings when I wake up I should determine the kind of behaviour or mood that I am in and if I am not in a good mood I should change to a good one as that will set my positive feelings and tone for the rest of the day!

It is better to practice a little than talk a lot!
Actions speak louder than words! If you always talking, then when do you ever get a chance to put all that talk into practice. People who always talk and never do anything are actually hypocrites. How can they say they do all these things when they never put their talk into action?
People who always talk yet never do irritate me, in fact they twick my melon! (as once mentioned in the movie Son in Law). I personally feel that people who talk yet never act are condescending towards others as they make themselves sound so great and perfect yet they are liars and frauds.
I don’t care whether people practice or don’t practice anything in life, but if they don’t ever put their big talk into actions and are forever telling people how to do certain things then that isn’t just or fair.
People who talk a lot and never get anything done have the need to “show off” or “prove themselves” for some pathetic reason. I don’t think people actually care what people say, I think it is what they do that people really remember.
So to all you big talkers out there lets see some action, practice what you preach!

It is a poor idea to lie to yourself
I agree with this statement 100%. How can you ever be honest with anyone else if you can’t even be honest with yourself. How can any friendship or relationship ever form on the bases of a lie?
Sometimes life can be scary and it is hard to face the truth. It is even harder to be honest with ourselves. I am often scared of things but I would rather push those thoughts to the back of my head then actually have to face them and deal with them. But, these thoughts, worries and issues never go away and they always going to be there until you tackle them and sort them out.
Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith and trust yourself and your decisions. You need to believe in yourself to be able to live each and every day to the fullest. If you lie to yourself and pretend you someone you not, no goal in life you ever make will be reached.
We all need to look deep into our hearts , take off the masks we wear and find out the people who we really are and not the people we pretend to be while thinking that if we act a certain way long enough we will eventually turn into those people.

Not all who wander are lost!
What does wander actually mean? “to move about without a definite destination or purpose”. Who says that those who move about without a destination or purpose are lost? Who are we to judge what their destination is or should be?
I think that we all have our own unique paths in life and just because one’s path may differ from another person’s it does not mean that they are “lost” or gone astray.
Another definition of wander is “to proceed in an irregular course”, as mentioned above to who’s irregular course are they referring to? There are so many individual compelling people in the world that if we were all to follow the same “path” life would be so boring and predictable!
I feel that sometimes when people don’t look like we do, talk like we do, dress like we do or even act like we do they are often labeled as “lost” when in fact we may be the “lost” ones.
So next time when you walk down the street and see those colourful charismatic people wandering around, don’t automatically assume the worst and judge them, maybe we are just as lost as they are or maybe even more!

We are afraid of the wrong things!
When I was born I was afraid of strangers
When I went to pre-school I was afraid of leaving my parents for the first time
When I started school I was afraid of the new challenges that faced me
When I moved schools I was afraid of making new friends
When I started middle school I was afraid of the big building and the new teachers
When I went to high school I was afraid of my school workload
When I was in matric I was afraid of failing
When I graduated I was afraid of going over seas for a year
When I came back from overseas I was afraid to live in South Africa
When I started at CPUT I was afraid I made the wrong choice
BUT… I went to preschool, I faced those challenges at primary school, I made new friends when I moved to a new school, I adapted to my new teachers and the big middle school building, I managed my high school workload, I passed matric, I had an incredible experience overseas, I settled back in when I came home, I went to CPUT and I graduated!
I think at each stage of our lives we are afraid of certain things and looking back at all the things I was afraid of I can laugh!

How do you step from the top of a 100-foot pole?
Well how do you step off the top of a 100 foot pole? I see this question as an analogy to taking risks in life rather than literally stepping off the top of a 100 foot pole.
There comes a time in everyone’s’ lives when they have to take a great leap of faith…just like stepping from a 100 foot pole. You may not know if you will make it safely to the ground, or if you will succeed, however if you don’t try you will never know!
Life is too short for people not to make the most of each day! If one procrastinates about stepping off a 100 foot pole they are never going to have the opportunity of taking risks and making those increcible memories to tell their grandchildren one day! How will they ever know if they reached their full potential?
Sometimes you just have to follow you heart, even if it makes no sense at all. We learn from our mistakes so we don’t repeat them. Life is all about chances, if you don’t take them you will never get off the 100 foot pole, and if you do take chances, face all the obstacles in your way one at a time.
So close your eyes, dream big, follow your heart and take that first step off the 100 foot pole.

We are what we do!
It is said that actions speak louder than words! Is this statement over rated or are we judged by our actions?
I believe we are what we do, stereotypes exist for this exact reason. People are labeled for what they do. If you murder someone, you are a murderer, if you save someone, you are a hero.
If we are not who we are from what we do, then what would we be?
I believe that all our achievements, all those amazing moments in life, all our worst hours, all our highest highs and all our lowest lows is what shapes our personalities, the people we are and the people we become.
Life is too short for people who waste their time on useless efforts as that reflects on who they are. If we waste time are we wasters? And if we make the most of each and every day and live our lives to our full potential will we be great individuals?
So if asked the question do I believe that we are what we do, my answer would be yes! If we weren’t then why would we do anything? Those that make the effort to be bold will reflect well on who they are.
